Overview

Self-emissive by design — no backlight, no light guide, no contrast ceiling

An OLED pixel generates its own light, so black is a pixel that is simply off. That removes the backlight unit, the light guide and the diffuser from the BOM, and with them the leakage current and the bezel width they force.

Pixels that light themselves — and how we keep them alive

Because each pixel emits its own light, OLED modules deliver contrast a backlit LCD cannot reach: blacks are truly off, measured at 0 nits, which is why a watch face at night shows no halo around the digits. The same architecture cuts the optical stack to a single glass, giving sub-millimeter thickness and narrow bezels that matter in TWS and wearable enclosures.

The trade-off is the blue emitter: blue OLED materials age faster than red and green, so lifetime is managed at design time — brightness derating, pixel-aging compensation and always-on dimming guidance keep a watch face uniform across its service life.

PMOLED uses a passive matrix where the driver IC scans rows and columns directly — the right fit for small 0.42"–2.8" low-resolution displays like TWS case screens. AMOLED adds an active TFT backplane with one transistor per pixel, enabling 1.2"–5.5" panels up to 1080×1920 with faster refresh for smartwatches.
Blue OLED subpixels age fastest; typical luminance lifetime is 10,000–20,000 hours to 50% brightness for blue materials. We manage this with brightness derating, pixel-aging compensation and always-on dimming guidance — for watch faces we recommend 300–500 nits with a dimmed idle state.
Yes. Round AMOLED at 1.2" 390×390 and 1.39" 454×454 are standard stocked formats, and we cut irregular and notched shapes on our own 2nd-cutting line. Custom-shape programs start at an MOQ of 1,000 pcs.
Single-digit microamps in sleep mode — there is no backlight to power, so idle draw is only the controller and pixel leakage. A 0.71" PMOLED in a TWS case typically adds under 5 µA to the case's idle budget.
